I have to count it but just a thought I would say around $7000 but It is not a fair price as far there is over 100 hours machining  which is I did not pay for and I can get discount on metal material.Man hours is high + needs a lot of patient

Hi Coolbiz
Thanks and I used the fabric called TOAST. The picture does not do the justice when I look at the speakers front of me but out of few colours that I had in hand this one came up match very nice.

Superb PRELUDE - how do they sound?  I know they are designed around the dipole concept which does provide a different perspective.

Hi James
Linkwitz is a true designer of dipole and a very nice person that I must say I have nothing less then a respect for him and this is what I think about this speakers but it could be take some time and listening to find out about this speakers and that was the main reason I wanted to have them here.
First of all, I scared the hell out of myself by being so quite.I have almost -0- hum and noise for sure.
Different perspective could be a best word for it.It dose a lot of things in its best way and as far the drivers were not made for this design but chose from the best ones.Sound is uncolored and fast but the main problem with this kinds of design is limited output for lows which is a payback for having a natural bass respond. In order to overcome this problem it would cost $$$$$ and I do not think that what Mr. Linkwitz was trying to do.Over all I enjoyed the speakers and it has been on for two days now to give me some boost to clean up the mess that I made here.
If I discover something new about them I will share it with you guys and I appreciate every one who follow this post and put their comments. :thumb:

Great build, congratulations.

Unfortunate about the bass, I have just completed a pair of 3.5's with the new seas bass driver and the lows are unbelievable. I have turned my JL Audio f112 off.

Cheers Greg

Spectacular build. I am really impressed with the quality of your workmanship.
If they sound a tenth of what they  look, you will have some really great sounding speakers!!!

It is very interesting what I am learning here. The sound is wide and clean even in high volume.
Usually it takes few months to see what really they can do or cannot.

I think it would be very interesting if some of the members who have the Orions or had it before share their experience here. And yes I would like to hear not only the good ones but the ones that made the owner to sell it or however reasons. :D

I get the impression that you are not entirely satisfied with the sound, Prelude. I urge you to go ahead and bring your ASP up to revision 3.3.1 together with the C7+R5 update. This cures the tendency to sound a bit shrill on some recordings when playing loudly, and it further improves on the already very good driver integration and as well as the overall balance.

As for those who sold their Orions, I haven't seen any of them really describe their reasons, so I can only speciulate. Maybe they were unhappy with the tonal balance of the earlier versions. Maybe they just enjoy trying different things. Maybe they simply built them incorrectly and never got them sounding right.

Mine will stay with me as long as I have room for them. They are keepers, for sure.

What happened in the end with Orions you have built and how did they compare to your own actives?

Hi Sasha
In my opinion If you finish them yourself based on today's prices and keep the cost no more then $6000 you have got the nice active speakers.I would like to use it with two subs actively which I might make it up.But again you are turning the system into 4way and it does not mean it will be the best of all or your last speakers. The highs are  very nice without the doubt and few times when I came back home from shows I felt they are very nice speakers.
But there is a problem here which is a nice problem for me.First the Orion never ever came close to my speakers even they designed to be more room friendly. This is not easy to explain because nobody did what I am doing here.No one put them against a active towers like this(I must say with this drivers)to compare.
It needs a lot of time room wires amps etc...
I will finish the boxes for my speakers end of this year hopefully.
