A console pull from an old floor standing stereo from the late 50’s as I understand it, I bought it ready to go.
Single ended pentode with 3-5 wpc. Folks that know suggest it can be triode strapped and provide 1-3 wpc, but I have never done it or heard it.
It has a proper on off switch, and RCA inputs, and 3 binding posts/screws – L R and common ground. It has a proper grounded power cable attached also. Please be aware that there is no bottom on this amp, so you should seek to keep your hands clear of the workings below the amp during operation…
I have used it for 6 years with no issues with my high efficiency open baffle speakers, and only one amp bested the sound in all those years, with that setup.
Tubes are EL84 mains, a Tung Sol 12ax7, and a GE 5Y3 rectifier. I have 3 sets of spare EL84’s – some reissue Mullards, some EI’s, and 2 other sets. I have a spare 5Y3, and a spare 12ax7, but neither are desirable brands.
Does not look like much, but provides a nice glow in the dark musical effect. Mids to die for, and smooth treble. I used a biamped setup with powered sub, so I cannot comment on the bass from this amp.
Google it, you will see very high reputations for this little rough and ready amp. Some say the circuit strongly resembles the Almarro singled ended amps, I cannot comment on that.
$150 including all the spare amps, and the Sonicaps to recap it if I can find them.
