Modded Squeezebox 2 or new Squeezebox Touch..

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to ask everyone there opinion on what to do. I currently own a SB2 that had been modded by bolder. Although it works wonderfully it does have one issue (or non issue).  Due to the removal of an opamp, the signal coming out of the SB2 is phase inverted. This wasn't a problem in my previous setup (GMA Europa)  because I simply switched speaker wires. This won't work in my current setup which is going to revolve on the Quad 12L Active speakers.  The only way to correct this phase invert issue would be to buy a preamp or dac that has a phase invert switch. That means more money.

Should I:

1. Keep my SB2 that works fine and is already modded (which should sound better than stock) and ignore the phase issue which many say they cannot hear.

2.Buy an preamp with a phase invert switch.

3. Buy a cheapo dec and use the digital out of the SB2

4. Buy the new SB touch which has not problem and can stream at a higher rate.

What route would you pick?

Thanks

KJ

#4 is probably the best bang for the buck.  Not too expensive, higher rate, can always be modded, and you can tweak it a bit further with the Touch Toolbox.

Do you have high Rez music or expect to?

Not sure if the modded SB3 phase inverts?  Those are seen used some here.
