Not grotesquely priced or physically beefy, but the Sanders Magtech monoblocks are power horses:

Price: $10,000 pair
Power: 1600 watts RMS into an 8 ohm load / 2000 watts RMS into a 4 ohm load
Bandwidth: DC through 100kHz
Class of Operation: Class AB
Slew Rate: 500 Volts/microsecond
Input voltage required for full output: 2 Volts
Input Impedance: 50kohm (both balanced and unbalanced)
Gain: 26dB
Noise: More than 110dB below rated output
Damping Factor: Greater than 600 into an 8 ohm load
THD: Less than 0.004%, 20 Hz - 20 KHz
IMD: Less than 0.003%, 20 Hz - 20 KHz
Dimensions: 17" wide x 5.5" tall x 16" deep (43cm x 14cm x 40.6cm)
Weight: 55 pounds (25 Kgs)

These Sanders amplifier products have caught my attention in the past.  The specifications are outstanding - especially when you consider the price.  They have an amp product that I noticed (on paper) outperforms my 4B-SST2 at a lower price and they seem to have garnered a loyal following.  I also noticed that they have a Lifetime Warranty - though I haven't looked into the details, this adds to the attractions.  If I lived in the U.S. I'd be tempted to look into their products more seriously.  I believe James was looking into their speakers.

This was a positive review I looked at on their amplifiers: http://www.dagogo.com/view-article.asp?harticle=393

I believe this is the transformer that goes inside - in the picture above, within the far amp - you can just catch a glimpse of the cylindrical transformers form.

Those should smoke Acoustat Model IIIs James.

How far can you move your head before things change?

How dynamic are they?

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Excellent dynamics, excellent resolution, big pair of headphones if you're OK with that. Using them with his electronic crossover and 2 Bryston 14B's

James, I'm sure the 14B's can hold their own and then some with those speakers but have you ever been curious to try out the matching Sanders amps with those speakers?  What do you think the difference would be, if any, as I'm sure you've heard the Sanders amps at the shows?

Actually when I ordered the speakers I was going to order his amps as well to have the complete system. Roger was gracious enough to tell me that Bryston was one of the few companies he admired when it came to amp design and told me to use my own amps.

James

PS - I think when Absolute Sound reviewed the Speakers they compared his amps to the 28B 's

Yes you're right about the 28's. When I was visiting with Roger at T.H.E. SHOW last January he was telling me that most people did not fully understand how much power the electrostats need to really shine. I told him that I was using the 28B's on my CLX's and he said "Ah, that's a great amp so you do understand."

Roger is a interesting guy and makes really good products.
