Anybody tinkered with FabFilter Pro Q as an ad on to Pure Music?

Looks interesting. I have downloaded the trial version but can't seem to find it.

Yes.  Have you searched this forum already?

Fabfilter runs in both OSX and Windows' environments.

Yes, it's an excellent sounding EQ. I would also suggest checking out Equality by DMG Audio. Great stuff!!

I'm thinking of trying something that works with Pure Music for simplicity purposes.

Have you tried both and come to any conclusions?

Yes, but it was either over my head (not hard to do) or not specific enough.

I guess I'm looking for someone with enough patience and kindness to walk a blind man around this software. Begging is an option for me.

I have the Fabfilter and Pure Music as part of my Spatial operating program, I like them very much, of course Clayton Shaw does all EQing so I have no idea how easy it is to set up.

Maybe you could tell us more about your system and how you want to implement ProQ?

Yep, ProQ and Pure Music (and FuzzMeasure?) are the foundations of Spatial.  You can accomplish what they do with a little sweat and, of course, time...and a mic.

Embarrassingly enough, the first thing I want to do is find the downloaded trial of Fabfilter.

And,  then I want to flatten out the response curve in my room. My system can be seen in my system tab but it is basically a mac Mini utilizing the usb out to a dac.

OK... I know what Pure Music and ProQ is but not familiar with  FuzzMeasure and what "the foundations of Spatial.[" means?? I told you it wouldn't be hard to get over my head.

Can you recommend a cheap but adequate mic?

No worries.  Going active is the best thing I've ever done and I'm happy to help you out with a key part it.

Do you have Pure Music installed?  That is the only Mac context I am familiar with as it comes to FabFilter Pro-Q.  You'll need some sort of music playback program that will load it as a plug-in.  Pure Music is pretty awesome, anyway.

You can download the free trial version, here:

Use the Finder. It's that funny looking icon at the lower left of the toolbar. After you open it type the name of the program in the search box and hit Return. That should locate the application.

I forgot to mention that I use an Earthworks M30 measurement mic but I think the Behringer ECM8000 mic is pretty good, especially at the price.

Fuzzmeasure is a measurement program.  You'll need to use it or something like to to understand where eq is needed / desired based on your system's frequency response.

You do need to get it calibrated to be useful.

Spatial Computer is Clayton Shaw's latest company.  (His previous company was Emerald Physics.)

Hey fellas, thanks for the input. I have pure music and figured out how to install fab filter. Let me tinker  for a few days and then I'll come back with some questions.

I am also going to order  one of the mics you suggested-  so another few days for that as well. If I get a chance in the interim I'll do a room measure the old fashion way: with my Rives test CD and the Radio Shack sound meter.
The last time I did one I had a bad  200hz suck out, which I don't  think the fab filter is going to be able to help me with. I'm only working with 4 watts, so, any kind of boosting is probably not a good idea.

Anyway, thanks again for the help.

Sure thing - happy to help out.

Great and free measurement software is Room EQ Wizard (REW).  Check it out here:

I would recommend using it in conjunction with the mic you purchase to see where you're current setup is at.
