Ok I have the Roku HD and the Apple TV that I just recently purchase  :D I'm impressed w apple tv the fact that I could stream wirelessly my entire music library, videos, pictures and see them clearly and neat on the tv is AMAZING~  I'm very happy, now I only purchase the device as a trial thing to see if I like it.  Well, I'm SOLD!  :thumb:

And if you sign up for iTunes Match, all your media would be in the cloud and you wouldn't have to stream from, let alone power on, your computer.

Agreed and with each software upgrade it gets better and better. The great thing about it is it actually gives me features I never knew I wanted. as chgolatin2 pointed out one of the surprisingly great features is the picture slide show screen saver. my wife and I will just sit there and watch the screen saver and talk about all the pictures! We made an album on our computer title 'favorites' threw all of our favs in it and pointed the apple tv to that file. It is unbelievably great! Not to mention it does a great job of preventing screen burn. I leave the Apple TV on constantly, it never goes to standby, just constantly streaming pictures.

If it weren't for my wife's insistence on getting the Oprah network channel I would ditch Direct TV like a bad habit. I hate them so much, as a matter of fact I hate all cable/satellite set top boxes period. The Apple TV with netflix... 99.9% of what I need! My daughter gets to watch all the PBS shows she could ever want I get Scarface and a ton of other movies. All this = infinite win!

Not that I haven't already blabbed enough about ATV in this thread, but I also did so in another thread.  :thumb:

One last thing, the picture quality (while only 720p) is MUCH better than the picture quality I get through that POS satellite HD receiver. Simply amazing that I can stream Netflix HD to the ATV, my iPhone AND my wife can stream to her phone simultaneously without any loss of quality? Awesome awesome awesome!

I'm using the optical out to a Cambridge Audio DACMAgic.  Either with my speaker or headphone set up.  I think it sounds great and the album artwork is dsiplayed on the HDTV.

I am working on a way to bypass the internal switching power supply in the ATV that is probably going to be the best way to improve the sound of this thing. While ok, it's nothing to write home about like my modded SB touch. I am currently using a Muse DAC I bought on ebay for $40 :D . I junked the switching power supply of that and used a parts express variable linear supply and it made a big improvement for $20!

If I could do the same with the ATV I'm convinced the sound quality would be even better. The internal PS is a 3.4 v 1.75 a which translates to 5.95 watts, the parts express PS is 3 v 2 a = 6 watts. An exactish match! The problem is that the PS on the ATV is housed in a mysterious black box inside the already hard to open ATV. I'll have to crack both open to figure out what's going on.  :duh: Plus my wife and kids would murder me if I killed the Apple TV.  It's a risk worth taking for SCIENCE!!!!

ya that's where I got the info I already have. Like I said the on board power supply is the mystery box on the far right.

They should have torn that down too!!!!  :duh:
