Hi All,
I am moving into a new home and have the ability to add a nice set of small speakers to my home office (a second system), where I spend a lot of time working. I was considering an Audioengine A5+ (i have A2 at work office). Then I remembered the internet excitement about the Mini Maggies from CES 2009.
So after some research, it looks like I already have all the extra hardware I need to power the Mini's.
1) Modded SqueezeBox with SPDIF connection and new power supply. Windows machine with FLAC audio files feeding the SqueezeBox.
2) MacBook Pro with TOSLINK connection for NHL.com and MLB.com strreaming to TV and speakers
3) Benchmark DAC1 with SPDIF and TOSLINK digital inputs for the 2 above sources
4) Bryston PP300 monoblocks connected directly from the the DAC1
5) Some flexible and not flexible AudoQuest speaker wire (these maybe a problem to connect the Mini's)
My room is 11' x 10' with a 5' cubby hole where I will locate my desk. I have a feeling the desk location will make the sound compressed.
I also have a long 70" W x 12" D x 33" H solid wood bookshelf that I think the Mini's will work great on (with the Mini's and an LCD TV/monitor on the top shelf).
Does the single woofer configuration require the woofer to be located in the centre of the 2 smaller panels? I would prefer that the setup NOT look like this photo because it would require drilling holes into the bookshelf and obstruction of my books.

So does anyone have any experience with the woofer panels and can give their opinions on placement.
Thanks in advance.
