This amp has been sold. Thanks for looking!
----------------
I’m selling my 6CL6 "spud" tube amp that I built earlier this year and purchased as a kit from Hawthorne Audio. I was so impressed by the sound of this amp (only after installing Terry Gesualdo’s mod kit) that I “scratch” built my own 6CL6 spud (fully modified including power supply) using the best parts and construction techniques that I’ve used before on high end custom amps.
I spent a considerable time improving the kit amp build that I’m selling and made the best solder joints and wire connections that I’m capable of doing. When you view my wiring pic below (the amp I’m selling), you’ll know that this is a professionally built amp and not done by some first timer. If you purchase this amp, I’ll be glad to provide any kind of support that you might need since I know the circuit well and have tweaked it beyond what everyone on the forum has been doing (other than Terry, of course).
It’s tough letting go of this little beauty but if you could see and hear the amp that I’ve built to replace it, you’d understand. Pics of the spud I’m selling and one pic of the custom scratch build (using ¼” thick aluminum chassis and Peruvian Walnut base, Custom Electraprint 10w OT’s and Electraprint power transformer, solid siver input wire) are included below.
I bought the spud kit from Jerry Curtis at Hawthorne Audio and ordered the solid oak sides to go along with it. I haven’t put a finish on the oak since I knew right away (after hearing the kit amp after I modified it) that I’d do a “scratch” build and then put it up for sale. As a result, whoever buys it can either finish it natural or with a stain. I wanted to leave that choice to the new owner.
In addition to installing Terry Gesualdo's modification kit, I’ve used all high-end silver plated Teflon copper wire instead of Jerry’s PVC stuff. I also found that the kit RCA jacks really are cheap and lacking in connection substance and I installed rhodium plated Cardas RCA jacks in their place.
I’m asking $325 for the fully built, modded, tested, and “burned in” amp. I’ll ask that you pay for actual shipping costs and PayPal charges if you choose to use PayPal. The spud amp is already carefully packaged and double-boxed ready to ship to its next owner.
The double boxed amp weighs 14 lbs and dimensions are 9” x 14” x 14”. My shipping zip code is 48104.
