cheapie ear buds reccommendations
« on: 6 Nov 2011, 11:44 am »
I have a Sanza Cruz MP3 player I use only on rare occassions, like when the power goes out (becoming much too frequent these days).  The ear buds that come with it sound fine but they are too big for my ears and uncomfortable.

Any suggestions on some decent but cheap earbuds?  Preferably $25 or less, could go to $50 if really great.

I like these Sony earphones http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDREX38iP-BLK-Earbud-Control/dp/B002M78JA2/ref=sr_1_20?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1320585649&sr=1-20

I haven't tried a lot of different models as these are very comfortable and sound good for the $. I'm on my second pair now.

I bought some AO Safety Blockade earbuds and love them - they closed them out for around $10 a pair on Woot - you might be able to find some around.  Great at blocking external noise and for my ears the most comfortable I've owned - and I've probably tried a dozen different low end models.

They can sound tinny if they aren't seated properly, so it can take a little practice to insert them properly.  It looks like 3M bought or licensed the design:

They seem to be either a love/hate type of earbud.  Also the name is misleading since these are noise isolating not actively noise canceling.

Ultimate Ears makes a set that lists for $39 and fits small ears well (the only in-ear types I have found that are comfortable for me).

Sony or Ultimate Ears are my recommendations also...I use Ultimate Ears UE700 for critical listening, that whole line is excellent. I also own Sony's....all good...

I have a pair in-ear-canal from a company in Korea, CrossRoad.  The phones are the MylarOne and they are onto anewer generation than what I have.  They are truly extraordinary for the price at just under $60 even w/ shipping from Singapore.

Someone* (I forgot who/where) on another thread here recommended these - http://www.amazon.com/MEElectronics-M9-BK-Hi-Fi-Sound-Isolating-Headphones/dp/B0038W0K1G/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I5QC8W9B4XGXE&colid=2ANUWCRZWWCR8

I haven't tried them.
