No way I can beat James because I was just 0 years old.I was born in 1974.
Well, it did not take so long. In October 1996 I bought a pair 7Bst and 2x 4Bst in black in same day. After few days my friend came over with the STEREOPHILE October 1996 in his hand and told me that all my amps are in this issu.
here is:

I sold all 4 pices and replace them with silver pair 7bsst and 2x4Bsst in June 2002 :thumb:

Wow - James looks dapper there...!

I wish I had the entire article to read - anyone got a pdf of the the article from Stereofile.

I can't beat James's 1974. But I'm pretty close.

I've been a very happy Bryston customer for just shy of 33 years.

I bought my first 4B in January 1979, at which time I wrote to Bryston - a real letter, of course, not email - asking a number of questions about my new 4B. I received a helpful letter from the company's senior engineer, Chris Russell, who has since climbed to the top of the Bryston ladder. I was impressed with that kind of responsiveness then, and have kept his letter as a reminder of just how good Bryston is in terms of its customer relationships.

My first 4B had a 5 year warranty on it. I discovered some years later that Bryston had extended its warranty to 20 years. And then I learned that the extension included previously purchased equipment, which meant that i had many more years of warranty coverage. More importantly, I learned that this was a company determined to earn and win the hearts and minds of its customers through excellence in equipment, integrity, and fairness - something extraodinarily rare in modern commerce.

Chris's letter proved to me that Bryston would be there when I needed it, and that, together with the performance of its products, instilled in me a degree of confidence that prompted me to buy more Bryston. Altogether I own or have have owned 2 4Bs, 2 Bryston preamps, 3 7Bs, a BDA-1, and a BDP-1. And that confidence has extended to products it has distributed, but has not made - PMC speakers and a Torus C15.

When a relationship with a company can last far longer than many, if not most, marriages, you can call it a match made in heaven.

Dave

What a great article.  This is one of the most powerful arguments I've ever heard to counter the audiophile skeptics.

"The reason that we were forced to take people's unsolicited response seriously was because they were noticing things when we hadn't made any announcement and there was no visible evidence".

I thought this comment from Chris Russell was interesting - especially since, after all these years, we don't see Bryston amps with 120db signal-to-noise rations...was the 8B better in this respect?

"The 8B, for instance, in the two-channel mode, is a 400Wpc amplifier with a S/N ratio in the range of 120dB." - Chris Russell.

Real newcomer here, got the 14bs just under two years ago.

An amazing upgrade even at low volumes but they did replace a pair of NAD C272s so
might expect some benefit!

Contemplating a route to active with a pair of 10bs and a move around of amps when funds permit.

Sounds fantastic already though so present focus is on new stuff to hear.

It started with a 3B in 1985 and since then 42 different Bryston pieces have been moved in and out of my system.  Currently I have a 4BSST2, PP300, and a B100SST.   I wish I could have kept every one of them......

Bought 1 unit of 4B-SST2, together with BP-26, BCD-1 in 2008.  Bought 1 more unit of 4B-SST2, the BDP-1, the BDA-1 and a Torus in early 2011.  Bought 1 more unit of 4B-SST2 and 2 units of 10B Active Crossover Standard in August 2011.

I bought Bryston at the end of 2010.
Started with BDA-1 ,  BP-26 & 4B SST2 and subsequently added BDP-1 and couple of month back I bought 7B SST2. Initially all cable was from Bryston now replaced with Acoustic Zen.

My first Bryston piece - a BP 25 preamp - was purchased in 1996 (it's still in daily use).  Been a big Bryston fan ever since.

Long may this wonderful company prosper!

A 4B in the early 90's. However I drooled over the 4b for years before that in my teens ,  :o especially the "centerfold" dream component pics that used come out in "Sound" magazine every year around xmas.

Currently I have a 2x4b's, 2x2BLP's, 1x3B NRB, a SP1 and a BP-25.

Cheers,
