Some old, some new - the big bucks in the new.  Some borrowed....but nothing blue....wait...the LEDs on my phonostage... ;)

Brought all my Bryston & PMC gears new from the dealer, but also some display samples and last minute throw aways from friends and shows.

All of my audio gear has always been bought new, from an authorized dealer.

At some point, I'm going to buy me an older Bryston pre-amp to replace my Parasound PH-850 pre-amp (probably a 1b or .5 or maybe an older BP-20).

It'll be interesting to see how different it is from my current pre-amp.  I expect that it would be more revealing and detailed.  How much will be the big question.

I tend to minimize variables and make small changes to my system and will typically only change one component at a time.

I have owned a whack o gear over 30+yrs at this crazy hobby . I have bought gear brand new and used/trade in/demo , but used only used if I know the previous owner , if the gear is mint and a hefty discount from retail and sounds good then why not? , but no matter what kinda deal NOT from some weirdo I happen to meet that says hey buddy wanna buy a blah blah blu? I gotz one in da trunk of my car ! . In that case ah no thank you

 The above said just try ro remember this

The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of the deal is forgotten .

I wanted the newest 4B-SST2 amp, so I bought it new.
I could have waited around to save money on a used BP-26 preamp, but i just bought it new along wht the amp, and the phono BP1.5

I just had the money and went for the package (along with the Magnepan 3.6 speakers bought all at the same time.)

I have purchased used items off Audiogon and been very happy.
So in general I buy new and used. I just happened to buy my Bryston together, new.
