It helps to take away the pain of choosing among so many, for sooo much.  

Has to start with a big, well designed dedicated listening room (say using Cardias height/width/length ratios, with RT60 times of 0.42 from 125 - 4,000 Hz).  Ideally the room would be at least 4,000 cubic feet.

Next comes speakers that use the Fostex F200A full range driver in a mass loaded transmission line cabinet.  This design will provide 28 - 20,000 Hz at 91 dB/w/m w/o sub or crossovers to provide perfect imaging.

Add aBel Canto eVo digital amp and a VRS audio PC with monitor.  (Can't wait until the digital/analog/digital conversions can be eliminated from the signal path.)

Undecided regarding conditioning, rack, cabling, etc.

I can still remember Steely Dan playing over that tuner.  Man it was "MAGIC" it sounded so good.

Musta been around 1973-74 or so since I already had my first Pantera (a 72).  I was in Springfiled, Ill.  I lived in a "FREAKIN HUGE" 10 room Victorian type house, three doors down from Lincoln's house.

I rented the place from the bank for $300 a month and had 4-5 girls and my best friend renting from me.  Sometimes just collecting the rent was an adventure!!

Man the music and the parties we used to have.

Had a drum kit set up and we used to have band practice and all kinds of mayhem.  Thank goodness I knew the police captain, for we were visited more than I can count.

Ahh, my dream system huh? Well, let's see. For sources, how about a Rotel RCD991AE? I like to listen to FM so I need a tuner. Maybe one of those Realistic 1000 analog tuners from the 70's, modified by Antenna Research, turning it into a true "supertuner". I'd like to keep thing's simple so let's go integrated for power. How about a nice Jolida 502B with all JJ pre tubes and JJ KT88's? Next would be speakers. Something handcrafted, well designed, offering sound quality so far over it's modest asking price as to make many other speaker manufactures look like theives. Well, how about a pair of Shamrock Audio Keelins? Now we need to tie it all together. Signal Cable offers great power cords, interconnects and speaker wire, all very well priced. Actually, this is the system in my basement. I have an almost identical system in my bedroom. [most of the same companies, different models] By far, and I mean by far, one of the least expensive "good" systems I've owned. As far as making music, I'd put it up against most anything. It took me damm near 30 years to learn you don't have to break the bank to have an outstanding stereo. In fact, after so many years for once I have no desire to change anything, in either system. I've recently started to play with car audio. Now this could get interesting...
