Hamfest with Scott

We drove down to Hamfest at the Kirkwood Community Center to see if they had any NOS tubes for sale.  Pretty much a bust, but Scott did score some tubes for a friend.  I bought these babies as objet d'art.

The left one is a Western Electric 705A (a half wave rectifier tube)
The cool one on the right is an Eimac 4-125 (a radial power tetrode for transmitting radio signals)

You should have seen Scott's face when the guy selling these talked about a tube he had a home that needed 15A for the filament.  That's definitely a tube you'd want to switch on with a 10 foot wood pole and wear your rubber boots.

Those look like the kind of tubes that you use lineman's gloves to turn on if used in a amplifier. You know the kind. The lights dim in the neighborhood. Norad has glitches........
