What type of paper for Fireworks pictures

What type of paper for Fireworks pictures

If I want to print a few fireworks pictures to frame and hang, what is the desired type of paper? Glossy, semi-gloss, or matte?

Picture is question is a couple pages back in the Pic of the Day thread but I have several more like it.

IMO, fireworks show better on glossy.  Glossy lends itself well to a high-contrast, high color brilliance, detailed image like fireworks.


One caution:  when shooting FW always us the LOWEST ISO you can.

Thanks Thunder, I used my Cannon G11 in Fireworks mode. The reason my shots came out so cool is that I was on a little boat rocking in the water or moving near Point Pleasant NJ so every shot has a swirling effect.

Beautiful sunsets!  Innovative fireworks.  I'd be curious about what "fireworks mode" is.  Does the manual explain?

The Cannon manuals are totally useless. I picked up the Magic Lantern book for more details. They don't explain what is going on in the camera. The Sunsets were done in Sunset Mode which somehow brings out more color in the picture, sometimes more than you see as you take the shot.

I just googled and found this

"The G11 fireworks mode shoots fireworks with a 2 second shutter speed, at ISO 80 at f/8."

ISO 80 is good, f8 is good, but 2 seconds is too short to allow the bursts to "paint" themselves across the sky

Understood. I am pretty happy how they turned out anyway. I think the moving boat added a lot to the shots which make them pretty unique. I call the one on the other thread "Chase the Dragon" and many people have told me I should print, frame and sell some of the shots.

You are right. Cool stuff!  I just shake my head at one-size-fits-all settings they build into the cameras.   :duh:
