I picked up a pair of the above from an Ebay auction.

They appear to be in very good condition, I'm going to rig up something tonight to play them OB.

I would sure like to have any information related to these that I can find.  I remember LTV ( Ling Temco Vought ) being a local Oklahoma city company when I was growing up, but was unaware they acquired University from Altec.  The speakers show made in Oklahoma city, and I'm guessing they are '60's vintage.

There's an abum in my gallery...Here's a teaser...

Thanks for any info you can volunteer!

Interesting. I immediately noticed LTV and had to look just in case. Sure enough, Ling Temco Vought!

I went to work at their plant right out of college early in 1968. But the plant was in Grand Prairie, TX which was between Dallas and Ft. Worth. I only lasted 5 mos. or so and then left to serve Uncle Sam.

They were building the Navy jet planes at the plant. I didn't know they got in the speaker business.  :D

A three-way? That's pretty cool. Only one set of binding posts? The crossover must be in the back there.

One set of posts, no " Brilliance control ".   Near as I can see there's one Cap under the frame to the right of the posts.  I don't want to remove it until I listen to them and decide if they need to be recapped ( given it's age, a real possibility. )  The cap appears to be glued to the underside of the frame.

The low to mid XO is purely mechanical.  The University brand of drivers that used the whizzer cone as a mid AFAIK all had the distinctive holes punched around the perimeter.

One of the ways to enter that enormous building was through the hanger where they were assembling the jets. As you walked in, those were almost completed and at the end they were just starting. LTV had bought out Vought Aeronautics who were making the A7 and F6 and as I remember, both were launched from the deck of aircraft carriers.

In the area where I worked, they were doing computer simulations of aircraft using a little B&W monitor and a real joystick out of a jet all rigged up to a mini computer (PC's weren't here yet). I guess that's how video games got started.  :thumb:
