In this day of internet offerings by master designers....think Danny here for speakers....and others like Gary Dodd for electronics...I'm not sure why quality is
assumed paired with big bucks. My Vs cost me the price of decent bookshelves off the rack, my amp was only $625 and its build quality and sound is outstanding....MP-401.

Probably decent treatment and placement will outperform 10 times in value most electronic upgrades.....specially with these dipoles. I know for most the living/family room is where they sit, but wow, you have to hear these in a proper environment to really know what they can do....jaw dropping.

Normally I stay away from the "I have the best idea" hype of forum responses, but this time I really think I do.  Quality tube amp for under $300.... and help out a fellow AC member.  Look over DeadFish's equipment that he is letting go due to health issues.  There is a 6bq5 homebrew amp that may be exactly what you are looking for.

And there are some great amp builders in these woods.....ones that understand the speakers, impedance, and conductance as factor considerations. Keep in mind, good AC powered devices require amps to be populated with great components. Batteries and boutique caps aren't the whole picture......

Perhaps a Cherry Amp (new or much lower priced demo) would be right for you.  If your budget won't allow that, we have one DAC4800A amp left.  It's the same as Cherry, but no faceplate, and it has a standby button on the front.  These amps combine very low noise with amazing articulation at any listening level.  Excellent build quality and made in the USA.  Check out our circle (Digital Amplifier Company) on AC.  Send a personal message if you're interested.  We're a small company that doesn't sell through dealers, so our margins are low and you get a LOT of hardware for the money.  Thanks.
