Coda /Innersound

Does coda sound detailed and warm? My experience with Coda stuff was that most of it has very linear FR but at the same time is a bit dry and bright.

Probably just a recommendation of what he owns w/o regard for OP's needs / requirements.  Happens all the time on here, which is why threads like this are semi-useless.

My purpose of creating this thread was mostly to gather information about what is out there that is remotely related to what I am looking for. Thanks to all that responded.

I think threads like this can sometimes expose you to new names and great that would have never even thought of listening to in the first place. Might be an unexpected discovery that will make me happy, who knows

Detailed & warm don't often go together. However, the closest I have heard using tubes is a well implemented mu follower design. Just be careful with the amount of gain it provides.

I can't recommend make & model as the best I heard was DIY using battery bias and 6SN7 tubes.

I see Rogue makes one.

TRL, Rogue, Purity, AVA come to mind.

Not that fancy looking but excellent sounding and can be tailored for the sound you like.

I took warm to mean textured, full bodied, harmonically complete.  Which I think is possible but haven't myself heard such a preamp.  Euphonic and detailed would be, I think, impossible.

I have had a bunch of preamps - best tube preamp that I have had warm yet detailed sound was Lamm LL2.  Best preamp I have had overall is Bent Audio Tap - will regret selling this for long time.  I currently am running Mapletree Audio 2ASe which gets remarkedly close to the Lamm for $800.

My little SEP amp pulls off detailed, yet warm and full bodied just fine. When I say warm I don't mean euphonic, more the opposite of cold and dry sound that a lot of modern gear has.

How about I haven't heard such a preamp that makes me happy.  If your amp pulls it off in your system, why the search?

just to add my 2 cents,  I was new to tubes, moving from the  affordable solid state.  I was able to pick up a Blue Circle 21.1 preamp on AudiogoN - love it and I'm sold on BC now, Gilbert is quite the engineer!

good luck on your search!

My SEP amp is a little 3W integrated that I use occasionally with high sensitivity speakers. I feel a need for better preamp to use with big power amps like VAC PA80/80, Aleph 30 etc. Not that my Symphonic Line preamp is a slouch it does most of what I want, but I have this crazy idea that I might get more detail and info our of recordings without loosing the full body that SL has with better tube preamp. We will see when this takes me :D

hello,

i have heard these like 2 or 3 times in the past and have not heard something at the price that beats its. these are great preamps and they are hard to fine. i would contact the guy and ask a few questions but i think you would really like it. only preamp i have heard in the past that beats hands down is the Viffa. but it costs like 4x the price.

I have a TRL Dude preamp and I describe it as "never harsh" and detailed.  Would that qualify as warm and detailed?

What about Bruce Moore Companion preamps? Are they more on the warm side of things?

The Coda is a little warm but not to the expense of the detail that's there. I've used a Windows 4 for 4 years and no desire to change, dry and bright are exactly what it's not at least in my system

Interesting, is this an older model? I only heard new Coda gear.

It's like the CL preamplifier they sell there was like 4 versions of what they called Windows . Legacy had Coda make amps and preamplifiers then rebadged em for Legacy, there's one on Agon but it's to much by a couple hundred at least

My AVA T8+ is very adaptable with tube rolling. From your OP I'd get some vintage Mullard ECC88's. He offers a 30day return policy, so why not. http://avahifi.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=70&Itemid=206
