Lol.   Unix, Linux, Mac or cygwin.   They all work in their own ways

What's the trick to logging on?
I entered the IP address & SSH
I entered bryston/bryston when prompted for username/password and I got "access denied"

Does "ssh" mean "keep quiet"?

Hi,
trying to figure out why my BDP kicks Airplay out of the network I wondered if I could monitor the BDP through this command also. What command do I have to give to watch Ip traffic after logging in as you described below?

Thanks,
Marius

ssh root@bryston-bdp-1.local
bryston

UPDATE:

I have converted all of the 150G of AIFFs i had to FLAC (became about 60-70GB of them) and I have added another 30-40 GB of FLAC files (ripped from CD to AIFF with all the album artworks and then using AudioGate (from KORG) to convert to FLAC), put them on the same drive, and the PBD-1 takes less than 2 min for the initial update, and less than 30sec for subsequence turn-ons.  Then I can use my laptop/iphone to access the BPD-1, create playlists, play and display all information and artwork from the album.  I 'm happy with that result!

Yet, I would love to see Bryston somehow fix the problem with AIFF loading time, because as you know, many of us already have had a huge library of music saved under WAV, AIFF..etc.

Hi HoaTran

Thanks for the update.  :thumb:

Wave is not an issue it is just AIFF if you have  a large library. We prefer Flac because it is an open system.

Does this mean, James, that Bryston will be dropping support of AIFF?

No the BDP-1 will play AIFF just not load huge libraries of AIFF - we are working on it now.

netstat

For a manual of netstat type "man netstat"

Might even try "nettop" or "sar", the BDP is rightfully light on linux commands these packages might not even be loaded.  You can also type "man nettop" and "man sar" for details on how to use them.

Thank You Sir!
I guess an interesting evening is coming up...I had already dl'd Netmonitor and its Sidekick, they work beautifully, but it is very difficult to pin it down to a specific Ip-traffic-occurence. maybe these commands can help.

Greetings,
Marius
