THE INEVITABLE HAS ARRIVED...
« on: 16 Aug 2011, 04:02 pm »
I have been reluctant to do this and have held off as long as I can, but I can't hold the line any longer.  Pricing on my Core Products must increase.  Bummer, I know, but there is no alternative.  Over the last 3 years, my cost of materials has risen about 30%.  Some increases have been less, some more, but the fact that the USD sucks isn't helping.

The price of the UberBUSS and RevB are now $1095.00 and $849.00 respectively.

To help offset the pain of the increase, I have decided to make the standard configuration of the Uber 3 receptacles as standard.  The vast majority of Ubers that I have build have been 3 receptacle models anyway, so this is a good thing to do.  The price of the third receptacle and after filter was $50.00, so this is not a huge increase.  By all economic rationale, I should be raising my prices $150.00 to $200.00, but I just can't do that with any conscience.  I have always prided myself on the most performance possible at the lowest cost tolerable and will continue to do so for as long as I can at this price.

Thank you all for your patronage and support over the last few years.  I especially want to thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers as I have weathered some medical issues over that last year.  Your words of encouragement helped to sustain me.  I am feeling pretty good right now.  Keep up the prayers, please.  You are the BEST!

Dave

As the owner of a new UberBuss, I can't think of a comparable product anywhere near this price that is this good.

Hey Dave, glad to hear you're doing better :thumb: I hope Art has been passing on my get better wishes to you.

Just so you know, the wonderful Uber Buss wil be in the Purity Audio Design room, 522 again at RMAF. It was a great decision to use it last year, a better decision to buy it after the show and the perfect bet for using it again this year.

It's also still a bargain at the new price and could easily be doubled in price if you didn't have a conscience

Best-

Not a big deal, Dave. All your products offer quality and performance way above their price-point. Not to mention your great support and honest helpfulness.

Looking forward to your future toys.  :D

Dave-  Hi.  Have you tried getting any of the magazines to review the BUSS?  Some of the reviewers are more budget conscious than others and most everybody cherishes value, anyway.  Did I read you right . . you are going to three receptacles?  That might eliminate some buyers unaware of your product I hate to say.

Three duplex, so six outlets, which is what mine has on it.

I was thinking of upgrading from RevB to Uber. and wished I would of avoided the price jump... But it sounds like a necessity and was a long time coming... Not that bad a price jump really!

Best of luck Dave

Thanks for the kudos and understanding everyone.  It was a hard decision to make on my part.  It is true that I could make more money, especially if I went to wowie-zowie enclosures.  Trinkets always sell.      I have chose to put out the best product that I can at the lowest price I can live with while doing so.  I have had some well intentioned people tell me that I am nuts for doing it this way, but this is my choice.

There is no reason for VHQ audio to cost an arm and a leg.  If you notice whose products I recommend and use myself, I think you will have a really good handle on where I am coming from as a person and as a manufacturer.  I also believe that by working together we can get great sound out to our customers.  Danny Richie at GR Research, Gary Dodd (and Trung, too) at Dodd Audio, the Mach2 guys (Darrell & Kevin), Pete at Triode Wire Labs (a competitor, BTW), Eric Hider at dB Audio Labs, these are all good people that care about doing business the right way.  We develop and sell good products at great prices.  Is there "better gear" out there? Maybe, but we all are committed to bringing the best quality that we can to market at real world, Joe 6-Pack prices.  It is a blessing to me to be involved with great people that take pride in what we do.  I also know that these guys are dedicated to advancing the SOTA as much as possible given their (our) obvious fiscal limitations.  It takes time and is hard work to get to "Better".  That is where we all live - trying to make music reproduction better.
