New Series From PMC
« on: 29 Sep 2011, 02:41 am »
Hey Kids ! It's a new series of speakers from UK transmission line afficionados PMC. It's called the Twenty Series to coincide with the company's twentieth anniversary and will apparently be available very soon. Now even. Here's a bit of info I was able to dredge up:

If you're in the market for new speakers, get ready to break open your kid's piggy banks. Maybe the neighbor's kids' too...We are talking PMC here, after all.

Nice looking speakers, but why does "PMC co-founder, designer and boss Peter Thomas" look exactly like Ozzie Osborn?

As noted by the lovely and talented Michael Fremer in Stereophile Dec. 2009:

"...Thomas, who in his brochure photo looks like a cross between Meatloaf and Ozzy Osbourne, is not at all shy about pronouncing himself "arguably the world's smartest loudspeaker designer...and a truly obsessive audiophile."

Here is a photo of Fremer perhaps contemplating something else cheap and nasty to say about someone or something:

They look spectacular.  The new 'angled' design is very interesting, I love time-aligned speakers.

But....are those brown grills?  Really?  1979 called, they want their speaker grills back.

I suspect they are actually grey like the FACT series. Same full-frontal coverage and magnetic fixing too.

The company info calls the grills "warm black".

I like TL and standmounts that reach 40 Hz (impressive at 90 dB).

The front venting would help when I replace my current floorstanding TL's in the living room (that are not optimally placed).
