What's the difference between Bryston Phono Pre's
« on: 23 Jul 2011, 10:07 pm »
Hi Everyone.

I'm looking for a phono stage and have come to the conclusion that the Bryston Phono is possibly one of the better deals on the used market. Two stumbling blocks though: there aren't many used ones around (of any model) and there isn't much info on the two older models. There are lots of reviews on the newest model though.

Basically, What are the differences between the current and vintage Bryston phono preamp's. Bryston seems to have made three different models; The BP1 (Mid 80's), BP 1.5 with it's own external power supply and the current BP 1.5 with the matching 17" power supply.

What is the ".5" difference between the BP1 and BP 1.5? Is there any difference between the the 90's BP 1.5 and the 2000's BP 1.5 (with the redesigned fascia)? When did the models change? Warranties?

Thanks for your advice in advance,

Mitch
