For sale is a phono pre that I bought directly from Jim Hagerman about 4 years ago. It was a later prototype of the Hagerman Archiver phono pre:
http://www.hagtech.com/archiver.htmlThis is a phono stage on steroids. However, there are some differences between my prototype and the final product shown in the link:
- RCA outputs as opposed to balanced outputs.
- NO USB out connection
- The prototype is mounted in a case w/o the rack mounts, and has an internal power supply. It will come with a standard detachable AC cord, so the user has the flexibility of changing / upgrading the power cord if they so choose.
Per Jim: "The Archiver offers variable equalization, loading, gain, and polarity. This flexibility makes it unique in that it can operate with any MM or MC cartridge, and play back any record, whether modern stereo, or mono 33s and 78s of any known equalization. The circuitry is fully differential using discrete matched JFETs to implement gain and buffer stages without feedback, giving a fatigue-free sonic presentation with excellent timing and clarity."
All of the controls shown on the front panel, as well as much of the circuitry (minus the USB out) is the same as the production unit. The sound is world class, and the applications for this unit for retrieving sound off nearly any kind of record are pretty extensive.
I have the "Archer", which is lacks the diversity in settings but otherwise is substantially the same as the Archiver. I am keeping the Archer, and offering this unit for sale so that someone who wants the same terrific sounding phono pre and/or needs the flexibility to handle a variety of recorded material can take advantage of the Archiver.
