6 VINTAGE Tung-Sol 5881 JAN-CTL-6L6WGB 1955 Believed NOS - SOLD

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ MY TERMS AND CONDITIONS (BELOW) CAREFULLY BEFORE PURCHASE.

This is for a group of six Tung-Sol 5881 JAN-CTL-6L6WGB vacuum tubes in what appear to be original boxes.  All six tubes have the light brown bases, the characteristic Tung-Sol octagon on top of the tube with 5881 in it, and JAN-CTL-6L6WGB printed on the base.  Five of the tubes (Tubes #1-5) come in boxes with a pack date of 12/55, black printing on the base and a printed date code of 550 on the base.  The sixth tube (Tube #6) comes in a box with a pack date of 2/55, white printing on the base and a printed date code of 507.

The boxes are for the most part in excellent shape, with one box having a loose top flap and another box having a loose interior flap.

From appearance of the bases, pins and boxes, these appear to be NOS (“new” old stock).  The flashing on these tubes does seem to show some discoloration, BUT THIS IS TYPICAL for these military tubes (I have had several in the distant past).

As you will see below, these tubes test nicely and reasonably close.  Tubes like this typically cost $100 or more from tube pros.

I tested these tubes on both a Weston 981 III (for transconductance) and a Precision 660 (for emission).  I find these testers to be very reliable for testing 6L6s.

The reject point (65%) on the Weston is 1300.  According to the Precision 660 manual, an average new tube should read 84 (65+ is good).  My experience is that this varies from tube to tube, so it is good to compare to a reference.

The results are as follows:

Tube #1
   Weston - 2550
   Precision - 108

Tube #2
   Weston - 2550
   Precision - 108

Tube #3
   Weston - 2500
   Precision - 104

Tube #4
   Weston - 2500
   Precision - 104

Tube #5
   Weston - 2550
   Precision - 108

Tube #6
   Weston - 2700
   Precision - 107

All tubes were clean for shorts and leakage on both testers.

I can provide additional information or pictures upon request.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Please note that these tubes are being sold 'AS IS', but I will guarantee against a DOA tube (does not work at all).  In such event, I will refund purchase price less shipping upon return of the tubes in the same condition as sent.

I ONLY describe what I know about the tubes, and what I have tested for.  Although my tube testers tend to be reliable, YOUR TUBE TESTER MAY GIVE A DIFFERENT RESULT THAN MINE, so please take that into account.  If the information is not there, DO NOT ASSUME, and do not rely on any of YOUR assumptions.  If you need more information than provided in the listing, ASK IN ADVANCE.  If I happen to have the information, I will provide it.  If I can get the information in a reasonable way, I will get it.  If I do not call a tube NOS, consider that tube used.  I do the best I can with very limited time and capabilities.  I am an honest seller, but I am NOT a tube professional, and I am NOT in the tube business.

AS SUCH, PLEASE NOTE THAT I CANNOT GUARANTEE (OR EVEN REMOTELY PREDICT) HOW THESE TUBES WILL SOUND OR PERFORM IN YOUR EQUIPMENT.  THE TEST RESULTS ARE ONLY PROVIDED AS AN INDICATION OF TUBE PERFORMANCE IN A VERY LIMITED (AND NON-IDEAL) ENVIRONMENT.  OTHER THAN AS SET FORTH ABOVE, I EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ANY LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO THESE TUBES OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR USE OF THEM.

Shipping in the USA via US Postal Priority Mail is included, although insurance if desired will be extra.  If you are outside the USA, or wish to use a different shipping method, contact me for a shipping quote.

Money order/cashiers check/personal check preferred, but all (other than US Postal money orders) must clear my bank first.
I also accept Paypal for convenience (but add 3% to the total for USA, and 4% to the total everywhere else).  IF YOU PAY VIA PAYPAL, HOWEVER, A CONDITION OF YOUR PAYMENT IS THAT YOU EXPRESSLY WAIVE THE RIGHT TO FILE A PAYPAL CLAIM OR CHARGE BACK (but do retain the right to sue me in court should you so desire).

IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THE ABOVE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, DO NOT CONTACT ME AND DO NOT PURCHASE THESE TUBES.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

Please check my feedback on Audiogon, Videogon and Ebay (ID=baileyler) and buy with confidence.

Thought I would let a few of my listings go back to the top one more time.

If they don't sell shortly, some will end up on the infamous auction site.

I can potentially take partial trade on some of the tubes (tubes, equipment, cables, SACD, DVD-A, etc.).  My needs are very few, but I will at least listen.

Some potential tube interests include the following - 45, 45A, 46, 47, VT-52, 2A3, 2A3W/5930, 6C8G, 6F8G, 7DJ8/PCC88, 6DJ8 (Siemens), 6922, 7308, KT90, certain 12AT7 (triple mica, or military-industrial versions like 6201, 6060 or 7728, or higher end like E81CC), 7AF7, 7N7 (grey glass only), 2C50.
