Sorry to disagree with you gents on this topic. the forces at work on the stylus are the same in the groove as they are on a flat plane. It's the offset angle and VTF that set the staking in motion. I also suspect, but can't confirm that stylus type may play a role as well.

How can the stylus type play a role if it's not in the groove?   :scratch:

 Dont Know. But at this point after 20-30 years of digital I'll take my chances.
 Just trying to get my new/used TT setup currectly.
 It's been a long time coming.
 
 At this point I'm open to everybody's opinion's about the proper setup of a TurnTable/cart/step-up transformer/phono pre/tweaks ext.

I'm hoping at this point my plans for a Vista phono pre and Denon DL-103 cart with my technics TT are good choice's for a starter turntable setup after 20 years of digital.
