I have something very similar on the tubes in the Sonic Frontiers preamps but each cooler is secured with two O-rings.

Is the purpose to keep the tubes cooler - is there a sonic benefit to that?  I use dampers to control microphonics and I BELIEVE it makes a difference, but never heard of cooling a tube for sonic reasons

The manufacturer claims sonic improvement.  They also claim 10 degrees F lower operating temp. of a tube.  They cost $32.00 a piece.  Do their claims work or is this just another way to take my hard earned money.  Me thinks the latter.

Perhaps they dropped them - the link doesn't lead to anything

Try this link:

That worked - thanks, still not convinced to pay the $35 each to "extend" the life of my tubes.  Assuming a 25% increase - that equates to a $140.00 tube.  none of my tubes are that expensive.

I concur then.  Save that money for new or (better) tubes.  I'm ordering KT66's now from the Tube Store.   :green:

I thought there was a topic a week or so ago that talked about how tubes are supposed to function within a certain temperature to sound their best.

I remember reading that some people who used a cooling fan directly on their tube amplifiers noticed that the sound was worse then without the direct cooling.

If you want to dampen your tubes, obviously Herbie's top of the line dampeners are significantly cheaper, especially if you have a lot of tubes to dampen.
