Does anyone here use one?  If so, what do you think of them?

Specifically the Athena & Hera II

Those two are WAY out of my league, but I am very happy with my Rogue 66 Magnum.  It just seems, well, right.

Rogue had the Hera II partnered with their Apollo monoblocks and Eggleston Works Andra III speakers at the AXPONA NYC show.  The combination produced a very smooth and inviting sound.  If you want to read about the show, my report will be online this week on Stereotimes.com

Athena was demoed and was very exciting.  If my Dude does not hold up the Athena is next in line.  very open and spacious sound with those 6H30 tubes.

Why did you choose the "Dude" ultimately?

I've heard a few Rogue products and was not moved by them (I especially hated their 'giant killer phono pre), but these press are at a whole other price point and not likely to be comparable.

They sure are attractive though!

I've been running a Perseus preamp for a little more than a year now.  It's certainly the best pre I've owned and I have no desire to part with it.

I have no idea how it compares to the Athena or Hera II, but I find the sound it gives me to be fantastic.  I don't find the sound "tubey" at all.  What the preamp does give me is a nice wide sound stage, 3 dimensional sound, great separation, and great clarity.  It is very quiet as well.

I'm sure there is better out there, but I seem to have a great synergy with my setup and it has never crossed my mind to "upgrade" it.
