This is the original version of the Devilsound Dac. It works flawlessly and has no cosmetic issues. This Dac has received universal praise, so if you are not familiar with it, a google search will turn up multiple reviews. $165.00 includes shipping and Paypal fees. Selling the Dac since I no longer need a usb Dac.

Dac has been sold. Thanks for looking.

If you are interested in the differences between version 1 and version 2 of this Dac, this is what the designer e-mailed me when I initially bought it;

"The v1's and v2's are far more similar than different, so I
wouldn't exactly be disappointed with a v1, if that's what you have.
We made some tweaks and minor improvements on v2, and wanted to mention this on the website, but the basic chips are all the same, as is the overall architecture ... the differences from just playing the DAC a lot (burning it in) are probably greater than the changes from
v1 to v2.

Hope this help, and I hope you like the DAC!  Let me know if you have any other questions ...

Any idea what the claimed sonic differences the manufacturer states, or what reviewers / users have observed in terms of sonic differences?

No idea, and as far as I know the different versions have not been compared. What I took out of the e-mail was that the differences were fairly minor, subtle improvements on an already very nice Dac.

From the Devilsound website, concerning the changes from v1 to v2:
◦Increased capacitance on power supply lines, with fast tantalum capacitors and "flip-type" ceramic bypass capacitors.
◦Revamped power implementation of the USB receiving chip (PCM2706) results in additional jitter reduction in the recovered digital audio signal.
◦To accommodate these changes the enclosure is slightly large than the previous version, however, the connecting USB cable is thinner and has strain relief.
◦Enclosure < 2 cubic inches
For v2.1, they just cryo'd it. FWIW, I'm using a v1 in my computer setup, and I think it sounds great, very natural. $165 is a steal. As for sound differences between the old and new ones, I've never seen a comparison.
