Mac Mini display
« on: 20 Jun 2011, 09:09 pm »
I am using the Mach2-modded Mac Mini (through Ayre QB9) for my digital sources. The Mac Mini has no built-in display. I have it set up such that the Mac Mini feeds a signal into my Panasonic wall-mounted plasma through a usb cable. I control the display via a Logitech diNovo wireless (bluetooth) keyboard with built-in touchpad.
Nice, except...
The computer-generated display overfills the plasma to the extent that the top menu items are not visible. I can poke my arrow up there and get what I want, but I wondered if there is a better way.
Ideas?
Thanks.

You can go in and change the display settings on your Mac mini; I've had to do the same when I connect to my plasma.  I keep the display unplugged unless I really need it though.

My experience involved some trial & error trying various resolutions available in order to get a decent picture and screen size.

Hey, that sounds good. I am using my plasma for home theater as well, so I don't want to change the display for that--just for my MacMini. I have poked around under PREFERENCES and SETTINGS, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Can you help?
Thanks,
Chuck

Sounds like you should check tv menus and see if there is defeatable overscan or 1:1 pixel mapping.

If not, try VGA input into tv if it has it.

Click on the apple icon & select 'system preferences'

Click on Display

Try a bunch of the settings on the left side.  I use 720p as my mini is connected to a HD plasma, via hdmi.

Or, on the right side of the same screen is UnderScan.  Slide it to More or Less to get all of the screen to appear.
