Elvis Costello Get Happy!

Big day in orthobizland. Double 45 LP reissue from MoFi out yesterday and is in my house today. Weight and clarity markedly improved.

The original had 20 songs compressed badly on two sides. This is the one to get! Remember, the first four Elvis albums are Indispensable! Get them before they go out of print.

Gotta go change sides now. Mine is serial number 000807. What's yours?

Having Bebe Buell between Rundgren and Steve Tyler isn't bad either!

Listened to the whole thing and the sound is positively holographic!

Elvis Costello's presence in my collection is spotty and very limited compared to many other artists. I have the original releases of My Aim Is True, Punch the Clock and Armed Forces. I have a live album but can't remeber which one. I bought the MFSL reissues of My Aim is True and Armed Forces. I never bought Get Happy and never got into any of his music after the mid 1980's. I may have to give Get Happy a listen based on your strong endorsement.

It's a good album though Elvis and the Attractions sound like they're on amphetamines.

One of my favorite EC albums.  I am almost afraid to listen to this reissue.  The radio-like compression on the original vinyl is part of it's sonic charm for me.  The decision to get the Mofi has thrown me into emotional turmoil.  :?

Interestingly, some of the songs benefit more from the remastering than others. For instance, Opportunity and Secondary Modern have incredible dynamics, while I Can't Stand Up... still retains some of that compressed "charm." It's spendy but worth it, I would proceed fearlessly!
