MWI LS100 - Speaker Hiss?
« on: 17 Jun 2011, 12:26 am »
Hi, just got delivery of a LS100 and I must say I'm really happy with the purchase.

However, since connecting it there is an audible hiss or "sshhhhhh" noise coming from the speakers which wasn't there before. It is only audible from a distance of say 1 foot and not the listening position.  Any advice as to what is going on or how to rectify it? Could it be the tubes? Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with the preamp.  You are hearing tube rush.  This will not be present with a SS preamp.

Thanks and enjoy!

Thanks Dan, I suspected that was the case but I wasn't 100% sure. Back to listening  :D
