I am Back!

I am now a Bryston owner again!  I am the proud owner of a Bryston .5B preamp and a 4B ST amplifier!   They are so quiet and powerful sounding...The clarity and bass is astounding!!!  It reminds me of the old quote in Stereophile "NRB stands for No Real Bass", yeah right!  They both sound great but the bass!!!

The phono section of the .5B is also very good!  It is so good that I sold my Creek OBH-8SE phono preamp.  I bought it for $300.00 in absolutely mint condition...It was a ridiculous bargain!  As a side note it has the optional balanced outputs!!!

I am sure that Bryston's newer equipment is better but this is a matter of degrees.  I am going to be a happy camper for quite some time!

Welcome back. My 4bst (1999 issue) has proven to be way better than I ever thought. It has kept up with every improvement over the years . ( latest was the BCD-1) Like wine, it has become smoother with age and the base is very resolute. :thumb:

I am so happy with their performance on my Dynaudios that I am nearly speechless!  I feel that I am finally hearing what my Dynaudios are capable of.  These small monitors have the capability of sounding very big!  They probably do bass better than any monitors south of Totem Manis or Dynaudio Special 25s, and the Bryston is breathing big life into them!

Your units are exactly like mine, just older versions. Where you have the .5B, I have the BP6. Plus, you have balanced outs which the BP6 does not have! And where you have the 4BST, I have the 4BSST.

I think I have a good combo too.

Nice system Vegas!  My girlfriend commented on how good Frank Sinatra sounded on the new system!  'Nuff said!  I made out like a bandit on the preamp!!!  This thing was over $1000.00 with balanced outs in the late 1980s.  It is a very, very good sounding unit!  Someday I will support Bryston and buy brand new, they deserve it!  I am fortunate to be able to buy any Bryston equipment.  My buddies brag up my system big time!  They are in awe of it.  It happened through smart buys and careful planning.  I am slowly converting them!

Thanks. Sounds good. Well, that day will come. Be patient. That's cool! One person at a time, and soon they will become Brystonaphiles!

One of my friends has converted already.  He has a pretty decent pair of Yamaha speakers and a Yamaha A-S700 integrated amplifier.  This is way better than the normal iPod set, and well within his current budget.  The Yamaha integred is amazingly good for the money, much better IMO than the NAD C320BEE.  It is no Bryston, nor Krell but mighty fine indeed and highly recommended if you are on a major budget!
