As for Bob Carver,  WOW !!!!

tells my age dosn't it! There was only one outlet period that even had the balls to publish it, and even it was disputed. So he does it again, and again! Now I'm not a Carver fan, but I do respect him as well as cuss him. Did they or did they not sound like a tube amp? I can't say as I wasn't there. But if memory was right it was less than 20% of the listeners that got it right. This all happened during my first exploration into the Accuphase world when there was nothing but analog (thinking back, I'd say it was closer to thirty years). That was back when a Mark Levinsen amp was regarded as the best amp you could buy.

Please add me to the school that is convinced that the vast majority of hum issues come from a cable issue

So much of this hobby is based on personal taste and system synergy. I also think that no matter how good a peice of equipment sounds, our ears get used to hearing it. It is sort of like my Dad having to tell me stuff over and over, but when I heard it from my Uncle I listened right away. It wasn't that my Uncle said it any better, it was just different. The same is tru in Audio. Sometimes we are just looking to hear something different.

Klaus is a standup guy who makes a great product. If I happen to own another flavor currently, I don't feel a need to bash his product to make me feel better about the one I own.

Amen, Brother!!!!  I couldn't have put it any better.

I still own my Odyssey amps since Y2K era and they are still going strong too. No burning, no humming, no crackling noise,  just cranking out good old tunes to my ears.

I'm going to be moving mine to the otherside of the room late in the summer, and with the new wall, I'll also have a full bore 20 amp circut (actually three) that will be dedicated to the amps. I think I might see some improvements.
