AES/EBU cable length

Hi James

Couple questions

What length AES/EBU cables would you recommend between BDP-1/BDA-1 and BDA-1/BP-26

When do you anticipate release of matching drive chassis / enclosure for BDP-1

Hi Steven -

I use a 1 meter XLR Digital cable at 110 ohms.

Not sure I understand the matching drive question?

Hi James

Are you using 1 meter cables for both BDP-1/BDA-1 and BDA-1/BP-26

What I meant by drive chassis is dedicated USB drive unit per

I would not say NO outright to the NAS idea - it's just we are looking at a dedicated USB drive unit that would match with the BDP-1 and take mutiple 2.5 USB drives first.

Yes I have just used 1 meter cables as they are the standard length we make them in but we can build them in any lenght required.

OK understand - yes I am still looking at that idea.

I thought digital cables were suppose to be 1.5 meters( something about reflections). I remember reading a technical article regarding this about 7 years ago.I tried it between a transport and dac and to my surprise it sounded much better than the 1 meter version( same cable of course).

hi budt,

We have found that the cable termination is critical regarding digital cables to make sure the impedances are matched as well as the impedance of the cable itself. That's why all our digital products have impedance matchng transformers at each connection.  There is no harm in experimenting though with digital cable length :)
