Soundscape C vs HT3

Any thoughts on what the differences would be between these two speakers?

HT purposes primarily.

No--I meant what speaker application?  Are you asking whether the HT3 or the SoundScape Center would make a better center, or are you asking which would make a better main?  I'm having trouble picturing the latter, and I don't understand why you would want to use an HT3 as a center unless the mains were also HT3's.  I'm missing something here.

I think he may be referring to something that I've considered.  A pair of modified Soundscape Cs used as mains.  Using the current price for a Soundscape C,  a pair would be close to the cost of a pair of HT3s.

Hi,

Just had a look at the soundscape c and I don't understand how you could use it as a main speaker.  Well I guess you could but it would need to be modified quite a bit to work.  I've wondered how whether the salk sound ht3 would be closer to the soundscape if it had an accuton midrange?

I'm not seeing them as mains either.  But if they were reconfigured, you might get a little better dispersion in the upper midrange due to the smaller Accuton midrange.   There wouldn't be any difference in the highs, because HT3's come with the RAAL now.  As for bass, the Anarchy woofer has gobs of travel, but its Fs is quite high.  It can be played very loudly, and won't require as much amplifier power, but it won't go as low as the HT3.

What do you have to "modify"?  Aren't all speakers designed to reproduce sound as accurately as possible, given various limitations for size and craftsmanship, including components?  Assuming I use a subwoofer and don't need lower performance than the Soundscape C offers, what would I be losing vs HT3?

Well, if you want to mount them horizontally on some kind of stand, you wouldn't have to change anything. They might look a little strange.

The SoundScape C was designed to work in the horizontal format.  It would have to be modified to work in the vertical format.  Which means a new crossover would have to be developed.

We are always working on new designs.  I would bet if you were patient, you'd soon see something along the lines of what would be required in your application.  And you probably wouldn't have to wait long...

I'm not trying to be coy about this.  I just don't like to talk about products until they are finished.  Sometimes, despite the most promising combinations of drivers, things don't work out.  So there is no need to talk about any design until it is pretty much put to bed.  But real soon now...

I really respect that, and I patiently await the news.
