Kind of amazing that Kyrie Irving was the leading scorer (14) for Duke in his first game back from his injury. Of course it was a 1 vs 16, but he did much better than I thought he would:

20 minutes
4-8
2-2 3pt shooting
4-4 free throws
4 rebounds
1 assist
2 steals
1 block
2 turnovers

Yeah, and it wasn't even that close for most of the game.

ND Coach Mike Brey even said at halftime chat that FSU defense was causing headaches for his club....one led by experienced seniors that took 2nd place in regular season Big East.

I hadn't seen FSU play until yesterday and I was impressed.  Their D was impressive (that's what wins NCAA Championships) and their offense seemed to be adequate enough to go far in this tourney. ND's defense is not porous and FSU seemed to make mincemeat of that, too.

VCU just knocked off Kansas.  No more #1 seeds left in the NCAA tournament - holy cow!

In it's very 1st year of 68 teams, a "First Four" team makes it to the Final Four. It's NCAA magic.  8)

This has been an amazing tournament with so many upsets.  I'm rooting for Butler to win it all, and if they lose to VCU, then I hope they win it.

So, Kansas decided to do the "catch up game" in the wrong place, at a high pressure all or nothing game.  VCU deserved to win because Kansas truly deserved to lose with all their ridiculous shooting and more than idiotic game play, it must be the curse of Kansas in the NCAA.  Good for VCU but do they have what it takes to take them to the finals?

Wow what a disaster of a tournament for so many. Amazing to see Butler make it to the finals again! What are the odds? A couple of coaches got some major contract extentions out of this.

The seedings make many look pretty bad in hindsight, obviously the tourney did not produce results that matched what 'should have' happened.

I'm kind of surprised that Notre Dame's Brey was named Coach of the Year...

Here is a very interesting article on the Tournament itself by the controversial John Feinstein, a Duke alumnus, who ripped Coach K for his lack of focus on Duke Basketball recruitingg and coaching while he was coaching Team USA

The UCONN run in March will be one for the record books. A team who finished 9th in the Big East, had to play the opening round of the Big East Conference Chamionship, win 5 games in 5 days, a Big East 1st!, then go to the NCAA Tourney the following week and continue this winning streak all the way to the NCAA Title. Incredible stuff indeed from a team who just peaked at the perfect time.  :thumb:
