DIY Dodd Buffer vs Nelson B1 Buffer

They are both relatively "Cheap and Cheerful."  Has anyone built/listened to both and can give honest opinion of the differences.  I've built a few B1s and love it.  Now thinking Dodd.  Thanks

I have heard good things about the Dodd. Any opinions jtwrace?

Op, are you planning to build one of these?

I have built both the Dodd Battery Buffer and the Pass B1 buffer running on batteries.

I could not get the B1 quiet.  It picks up local EMI and gets into the signal path.  I have tried a few ways to shield it, but still noise pickup.

The Dodd is dead quiet in my system running off a 12V AGM battery.  Sounds great with the 6H30P-DR tube!

I love my Dodd buffer and plan for it to stay in my system for a long time.  I also run a 6H30 in mine powered by an AGM battery and it is dead quiet.  Here is an auction of a unit already built, it is being sold for a good cause and is only up to $500 I believe with the auction closing tonight:

I had some of my students build B1 that Nelson sent me as a gift for my class in electronics.  They made a very cheap radio shack version and it runs on a wall wart.  They have no problems with it, but, i will say that I at times like the warmness of the dodd or similar tube buffers..
