Your daily swim ?

Here's my pool.

20 - 30 mins each day. Last year I was able to keep going until about May. I have friends that swim year-round but I'm just not that fond of cold water... perhaps some kind of wetsuit might be in order this winter.

That is beautiful water you have there John.  It looks like fresh water comes in every time the wave comes in.  :thumb:

That's a really great place to swim John. Our ocean water is chilly, ranges 10-15 C. so I just surf a little in it (with thick wetsuit). Do sauna and swim daily at local indoor pool, just a few hundred yards to stretch out, in younger years 1-2 miles a day.

Looks to be a very nice place to get a few laps in!

In my younger days I was on various swim teams throughout school, and specifically a sprinter.  That said, we still did 1-2 mile workouts, plus weights.

As for now, well let's just say I am not as fast, but I float a LOT better... :o

I've never been a swimmer of any kind, especially in salt water (bad memories of being dumped in the surf as a kid!) but started with some prodding a bit over a year ago. I swim breast-stroke only, don't like freestyle (the Aussie crawl!) as water gets in my ears. And I feel that I'm getting a more complete movement as well. I generally do 800m, occasionally I can muster up a km.

I haven't measured my cardio-vascular fitness (tsk) but it's helped me lose weight and get a few long-lost muscles back!

You get an occasional wave at high tide, but this one's fairly protected. It's also the only one with lanes, so it's a good exercise pool. Some of the other pools nearby can't even be reached at high tide! (The satelite pic of that one is low tide - at high tide the reef is completely covered.)

Very cool stuff!  I love swimming in open water, especially salt water.  Lake Michigan is way too cold for me until July so I rarely get to swim anywhere fun!

Thanks for sharing your experience and the cool Google map photo!
