Help resetting resolution with HDTV
« on: 20 Sep 2011, 01:28 am »
I received my old mini today, and hooked it up to my HDTV via a DVI-HDMI connector.

Initially I was able to see about 80% of the screen.  Assuming it was a resolution issue, I began to play with changing resolutions.

Now I have it set to one where I cannot see what I am doing...

I cannot "reach" the buttons to get undone what I have done, and I cannot see the buttons I would need to press to change it.

NOOB!

Help?

With some blind clicking, I was able to get back to change the rez.

Looks like 680x480 displays best, but that seems like low rez for a 720 display?

There is a 720p setting.. perhaps make sure you have the latest firmware and even consider reset to the default settings.

Turns out the new owner is a twit!

I needed to play around with a variety of settings to prove that theory.

In the end, it was playing around with the TV settings for Full, Justify, H-Fill etc that has me where I am now.

1024x768 setting on the Mini, and Full setting on the Panny, and I can see about 95% of the desktop.  No other setting combination gets me a more complete view of the desktop.

Moving to install app for remote control so I can lose the usb mouse and keyboard next.

Getting there.
