Simplifying II

I am going to put my Cornet2 on Audiogon but I wanted to give an opportunity to those in this group whose help has been so important over the years. I will sell the Cornet2 + Piccolo for $625 plus shipping. It is a hybrid octal unit. It comes with 4 12ax7 tubes (2 relabeled Telefunkens, a Brimar and a Mullard), a Sylvania 6SN7W chrome dome, a Russian metal base 6H8C, a 6106 Bendix, and a Phillip Miniwatt GZ34. Outcaps are Cardas bypassed with with Russian Teflons. Teflons are used as bypasses in other critical locations. The Piccolo also has upgraded caps. It was setup for a Shelter 501 so the loading resistors range from approximately 9- to 110 ohms. I have learned a lot building the unit and rolling caps and tubes.

Great question analog 97. I "inherited" a Pass XONO and it also sounds great in my system and to my ears. (This is not meant to start a which is better "war".) Because of my compulsive nature to experiment I was doing more tube swaps, cap swaps and resistor swaps than listening. As I said I have learned a tremendous amount from all of this. I have come to that point where I just want to listen and hence the simplifying header. I guess another option would be to sell all tubes  :) You are absolutely right about what it would cost to replace from scratch. If I was there I would build a Hybrid Octal Cornet 2.  Best

:o That's an incredible deal. If I didn't already have a Castanet, this post would read "SOLD".

I could not pass up this deal on the Castanet, can't wait to hear it.

My interest was peaked when I read the thread about it being discontinued.

I have had good experience with Hagerman Stuff...

2 x Cornet 2 (build 1)
1 x Piccilo (built this)
1 x Vacutrace
1 x Castanet (waiting...)

Still, need to explain to the wife why I need another headphone amp when I already have 5!

Should have sent it to the office like I did the last one...

Castanet is SOLD

Cornet2 is SOLD

Piccolo and Chime remain.

You guys are absolutely right about my pricing. I also can't keep 4 headphone amps, 4 Dacs etc, and my constant need to tinker.
