Curious about vinyl (loaner phono pre Austin)

Hi i have a buddy who can loan me a Technics SL-1200mk2, i am wildly curious to try vinyl in my system but dont have a phono pre. I really dont want to buy one just for experiement. I have a really nice digital rig but would love to experience analog and see how it stacks up. I realize just hooking it up to $29 RS pre wont produce desired results.

Can someone loan me a spare phono pre to experiment with for a few days?

I've got an extra Cambridge 640P, but I'm literally headed out the door for a week in Wash. DC.  If you still need one next Sat, I can ship it too you.
