Stratus Mono to Stereo Conversion
« on: 14 Aug 2010, 10:31 pm »
Hey guys, picked up a mono for my second system that I will need converted to stereo.  I've got the rear plate drilling down, that will not be a problem.  I will probably not bother with the balanced connector, but will need a pair of speaker terminals and an rca if I can find an exact replacement.  Does anyone know the model of WBT connector Klaus typically uses?  Not a biggie, I can probably track down some good ones from Madisound, but would probably save me $30 or so.  I will post a picture in a bit.  Also, has someone prepared a step by step with pictures for the conversion?  If there isn't one yet, I will create one, but I will at least need some guidance on what is required to be done.  I plan on using mogami microphone cabling and will probably do both sides, unless someone has some Groneberg wiring they want to part with from having done the reverse conversion.

I finally talked to Klaus who agreed to walk me through the conversion, apparently it is a bit different for different version amps, mine is the older green board.

This is the first time I've seen a Stratos in real life and WOW! this thing is quite the monster.

smata67,
I'm thinking about converting my Stratos Mono Extreme to Stratos Stereo Extreme.

How hard was this conversion? Did you take any pictures?

I wouldn't mind sending both units back to Klaus for the conversion but I don't have the original boxes and shipping fees for the round trip would make it unfeasible.
