Always great to see a company stand behind their products like this, but what was the issue to begin with? Why did they initially decide not to support?

Well, Pez, they initially said there were some materials that they couldn't source anymore. So I bought into that idea. But apparently on the ML blogs, there was much bantering going on, so much, that they decided maybe they should do the whole archive support. If they can do it 9and it isn't a material problem), then it's great news for all ML owners, past and present.

I think they just didn't want to stock a lot of parts for the old stuff (bean-counter mentality), if you get my drift.

Thats good. In my mind ML is still one of the good guys. They haven't yet gone the way of a lot of big name manufacturers who's main concern is $$$ rather than a stellar product and matching customer service.

They were trying but I think with the outcry on the M/L forum combined with the number of 'hits' that topic got gave them good reason to 'right the ship' !

Last year (2010) was ML's second best year ever in sales despite still being in a solid recession. The current management and development teams have a number new products in the works including some that may even make high end users smile. They have a good crew and are headed in the right direction. I give ML management credit for reversing themselves and hope they set a new all time sales record in 2011.

Steve, they're a little tough on tube amps because of their low impedance (1 ohm) occasionally. Hopefully others may chime in on tube amp compatibility, but it is somewhat of a concern (especially at high volumes).

It would be a big change and I really love my VTLs, too.

I agree with Wayner in combining tubes and ML's in general. I use the Bryston 28B's and my CLX's sing. But to every generality there are exceptions. I have heard my CLX's with VTL's and they work very well together.
