From the Audiogon ad:One pair of Gedlee (Earl Geddes) Abbey 12 loudspeakers. Sanded, primed and ready for your choice of finish. They sound fantastic and I have been listening to them in my home theater for the past year (Dec 2009 build). This pair of Abbey 12s may someday be a collectible as they were the first to have the cabinet made from wood versus MDF. I don’t know how many pairs of wood cabinets are out there but these were the first that Earl built. The foam material for the waveguide is being held in by a piece of string (i.e., not glued in) so that it can be removed during the finishing process.
The Abbey has a 12" High Performance 12TBX100 B&C woofer and a 12" waveguide and the same 1" compression driver as the Summa (DE250 B&C). The current new assembled and tested price for a pair of Abbeys is $4000.
Size: 29" x 15" x 12"
Drivers: B&C 12TBX100 & DE250-8
Sensitivity: 95 dB / 2.83 volt / 1 m (0 dB on the curves below)
Impedance: 8 Ohms above 100 Hz.
Check out the Gedlee site to find out more about these remarkable speakers. My reason for selling is I’ve built & collected too much stuff and am getting pressure from the spouse to clean up the clutter. I will miss these speakers! Buyer to pay 3% Paypal & shipping fees. I have rated them 7/10 just due to them being DIY and still requiring the buyer to provide the final finish.
