I don't think that that qualifies for this thread:  not cheap.

I once owned such beast.  To be honest with you, it was just there, not incredible, simply there.  Perhaps it is the nature of DACs or CD players in general where 99% of the sonic interpretation depends on the recording and the other components to either make it sound superb or to sound like plain Jane.  These units depending on the demand of the moment can be very affordable, I mean $300-350?  in gon.  Nevertheless, even if I need a new DAC, I would not pull the trigger on this one, according to my aural memories.

The bel canto can be purchased (used) for around $750 or less. I know a boy who found a nice deal: $650...it is considered to be a nice dac.

Im waiting for a chance to try it.

I sold one a couple years ago on the Gon for $500.
It's a nice, smooth sounding dac. I did not care for the ergonomics with plugs on both ends.

Only few words to describe it: warm, smooth, and musical.

Can be found for cheap, if you're lucky.

A nice sounding DAC for sure. Nice warmth to while still giving nice detail.

Can be found used for under $500.
