Is Stanalog (Old Well Tempered) still in business?

Has anyone had experience getting parts form this outfit recently? I read some posts dated back in 2007 saying this company did not respond to their purchases.

The new Well Tempered has no U.S. distributor.

They are in a weird, unresponsive state.

I made 2 orders from them--one I placed on line and recieved everything in a timely fashion.

The next I placed my order and was immediately billed for what they had in stock and that shipped, a few days later I got an email telling me that they would only bill me now for what was in stock.  Upon checking my statement later, I discovered they charged me a second time in the same amount the day of the email...

I sent numerous emails and attempted several calls to try to reconcile it to no avail.

I don't think they're scammers--it was probably an honest mistake, but their responsiveness is the worst I've ever encountered.

How long ago did this happen, and have you ever got it resolved?

I may need some parts from them, but not sure what kind of headache I'll get myself into.

by the time I gave up trying to correct it with them and attempted to just do a charge back visa said it was too late.  Also, they didn't want to do one because it was plainly days appart rather than a quick accidental double charge.  They gave me the option of putting it through as an unauthorized charge, but I was tired of it at the time--it was like $60.

On a side note, whenever possible I use my Amex.  Visa/MC absolutely suck with consumer protection by comparison.

Mike Pranka, I think is the new US distributor. He is the facilitator of the Well Tempered Circle.

No, I think OP is asking with respect to the original WT stuff that Stanalog is offering support for without the blessing or consent from the real, NEW WT that Mr. Pranka imports.  The Well Tempered Classic, Record Player, Reference and Super as opposed to the Simplex and Amadeus.

Sometimes George at Stanalog is fantastic, othertimes it's very aggravating.
I think that he travels a lot or something along those lines.
I would place the order over the phone.
To answer your question, I haven't needed any parts in the past 2 years but I have recieved some advice from him and his response was really thorough and prompt.

I am restoring an older well tempered table, and need reliable sources for parts, if I can't get parts, I need to sell the table for parts.

If they have it in stock, I'd probably feel comfortable ordering from them.  If its not in stock, source it elsewhere.  Also just double check your statement to ensure correct billing while you are still able to do something about it.

Their communication is very crappy but even having gotten jipped, I don't think they are intentionally crooks

Things like these just piss me off. What about that Bill Firebough, the guy who invented this thing, why doesn't he put a stop to this, whether he still supporting his old product or not, let people know for crying out loud. Is he dead or still living?

The reason, in Bill's words IIRC is that "life is too short for litigation".
