I'm currently using the original Icon with S-1 speakers and W-1 Subwoofer. I'm looking to get a better DAC (one that sounds better and can handle higher res formats) into the system and really want improved headphone performance. Given the lack of an upgrade path for the original products (S-1 won't work with Icon 2) it looks like the only way to go and stay within the Icon line is to add the Icon HD. Can anyone comment to the extent of the improvement I can expect from the DAC and Headphone amp?
Part of me is tempted to start over mixing and matching other brands (Burson, Virture etc) but if their is a significant bump in performance adding the HD I may try that first. Thoughts?
