I didn't make it all the way around the ballroom before my vinyl budget was exhausted. There were a lot records in that room. I picked up some good looking jazz albums. Now all I need to do is get a Spin Clean to remove to the grime so that I can listen to my new treasures.
It looked like most of the crowd was below the age of 40. The younger generations have picked up the torch and are keeping the vinyl format alive for the future.
A selection of catered sandwiches were available for sale at the lunch counter and the bar was also open. There was a very good turnout but it wasn't impossible to browse to the record crates with a little patience. There was usually only one person between you and the record bin you wanted to scope out.
I purchased records pressed in France,Britain and Brazil as well as domestic pressings. The selection of vinyl available was very diverse and more than 30 vendors were present. There were records that the vendors considered "collectible"
and were priced at $30.00 and up. My purchases averaged a little under $9.00 each with a high of $ 15.00. I thought the prices were reasonable on most of the records and there were also some gems in the bargain bins.
These record fairs are held in and around DC quarterly and this was the first one of the year.
