Greeting
« on: 7 Feb 2011, 12:49 am »
Hi, all
I just had an e-mail about two weeks ago from a friend about the Bryston and stereophile and that is how I could find this great site.
NOTE:I do not want to talk about it ok, but I want to intorduce myself as I am new to this side and I have been using Brystons in my active system for lat 17 years from st to sst and I will try to send some pictures too as well.
First of all, I would like to know If some one has or had any active system so we could talk about it or
Is there any interest?
How many of you did read about the importance of staying active in Bryston's web site.(newsletters volume 2)
This is not cheap and easy job but it is a way should be and some of the ideas that some one with
Wilson speakers should use any 50 or $60,000 amp is very sad.I hope that no one using the markups
against thesound.
Wilson speakers with $50,000 amp would be a total of $115,000.Now do you have a big room and the money?
Who remember the WAVEFORM MAC 17 which Bryston did the electronic crossover? I think that speaker in the used market with with 3 4bsst2 will sound as good as Wilson set up if not better. And you save almost $95,000.So What do you think? Am I right or no?
Any way this is a nice site and If you guys would welcome me I would like to be part of it
Many thanks To James that let this happen. :thumb:

Hello,
I do use Bryston amps on my active JBL system. I find active is the most versatile way to go. BTW I wish Bryston would produce Linkwitz Riley active crossovers a la Dbx or Rane AC23 but upscale versions with dB ajustments...

Hi everybody and thank you very much for greeting.
This is a most interesting site that I ever seen and almost every body have a very nice set up with some diy jobs which is great.
I have been diy since 14 years old and right at 19 I had my first all tube active system even the crossover. But at the time I had a big help who was older then my father. So I am always enjoying to see other diy jobs.
And yes. All the drivers that I am using is made by Audio Technology and are not cheap drivers and I like what they can do.I will put more pictures in my gallery  over the weekend from crossover which is I never had a better one before. :thumb:

Since I am always interested in the drivers people and industry use in their designs, I checked the AT website and got quite a surprise price/performance:
Comparing a JBL2226H, 97dB/w/m $340
http://www.parts-express.com/pdf/294-470s.pdf

with a AT15E102 25 10, 93dB/w/m $970
http://www.audiotechnology.dk/iz.asp?id=4|a|128|||

Who said that JBL PRO drivers are expensive?... :thumb:

How about that 12" for fun?

It's the optimization of the magnet configuration that makes the difference. :thumb:
