Does Quicktime give bit perfect output?
« on: 26 Jan 2011, 04:54 am »
I'm wanting to use my computer to play a dvds that have a  dedicated 24/48  PCM audio track and feed the optical out into a high end pro audio setup (Genelec). Will Quicktime give me a bit perfect optical output?

Thanx,
I set this all up when I started using iTunes and had made the appropriate changes to match the dvd sample rate and bit depth when I played the disc from Quicktime. I just wasn't sure if Quicktime did anything else (like compression) that might reduce sound quality.
