What do you prefer, Velodyne, SVS, REL, Polk, Boston Acoustics, Paradign? I am trying to replace my Yamaha. Thanks.

Budget? Room size? Size constraints? WAF? Using this for HT or music or both?

The prior post makes an excellent point.  I have 3 systems and Rels and others.  Don't leave out the Parts Express Dayton subs.  They are an excellent value especially when on sale.

I didn't really have a point, just trying to get an idea of what he wants. In the $500 and under range, for HT, I like Hsu and Outlaw.

:D Good point Kip. This is for HT, room is 19w x 22d, vaulted ceiling. Sitting position is about 9 feet away from system. Want to keep budget no more than $650. Prefer new as I am never sure how "loved" a pre loved has been  Did I leave anything out? Complimenting Swan M5000 speakers in a 5.1 system. They sound similar to Magnepan, very detailed imaging and pretty fast.

HSU VTF 2.3 would be my choice at $549:

They're very fast and musical. Or you could get it's near twin, the Outlaw LFM-1 Plus (I own the 10" version of this)

or the Chase CS-10.2. I have not heard this one, but it should have the most output above 25hz (after room gain)

I recommend Elemental Designs for high value subwoofers. I have two of their A5s subs and have been VERY happy with them. High output with outstanding bass quality.
